Training Designed Around the Spanish Market

Every programme we offer starts from the same principle: the chair is the classroom. We allocate roughly 80% of each training day to practical work with live models, because repetition under pressure is the only reliable path to muscle memory. The remaining 20% covers theory that actually matters on the shop floor — client consultation frameworks, hygiene protocols aligned with Spanish sanitary regulations, and the business fundamentals that separate a good barber from a profitable one.
Our training centre on Calle Corazón de María in Madrid's Chamartín district houses eight fully equipped stations. The layout deliberately replicates a working barbershop — walk-in flow, product displays, appointment scheduling — so graduates step into their first paid position without an awkward adjustment period.
Complete Barber Foundations
Zero to Employable in 12 Weeks
The Complete Barber Foundations programme is the most thorough barbering course we offer. It takes participants from absolute zero — never held a clipper — through to a level where they can confidently manage a full appointment book in a professional barbershop. The curriculum is structured across three four-week phases, each building on the last with deliberate overlap to reinforce muscle memory.
Training takes place at our Madrid centre five days a week. Live model practice begins in week two. By the end of the programme, graduates have completed over 150 individual haircuts under instructor supervision — enough repetition that the foundational techniques become reflexive rather than conscious.
Phase 1: Weeks 1–4 — Tool Mastery & Basic Cuts
The first month focuses entirely on building a reliable relationship with your tools. You will learn correct clipper grip (both palm and pencil holds), blade guard selection for different lengths, scissor-over-comb fundamentals, and basic taper cuts. Every session starts with a 20-minute precision drill — running guard transitions on practice heads until the blending becomes second nature. By week three, you begin working on live models under close supervision, starting with simple one-length cuts and progressing to tapered sides.
Phase 2: Weeks 5–8 — Fades, Textures & Beard Work
The second month introduces the techniques that define a modern barber's repertoire. Low fades, mid fades, high fades, skin fades, drop fades — each variation gets dedicated session blocks with instructor demonstration followed by supervised practice. You also begin beard sculpting: straight-razor preparation, hot-towel technique, cheek-line definition for different face shapes, and neckline cleanup. This phase includes two dedicated sessions on Mediterranean hair textures — thick, coarse, and curly — which account for a significant proportion of the client base in Spanish barbershops.
Phase 3: Weeks 9–12 — Speed, Portfolio & Business
The final month shifts from learning new techniques to refining and accelerating existing ones. Timed assessments push you toward the 30-minute full-service benchmark that most Madrid barbershops expect from their junior staff. Simultaneously, you build a professional portfolio: photographing your work under studio lighting, developing an Instagram content calendar, and learning how to present a body of work during job interviews. The programme closes with two days on business fundamentals — pricing strategy, client retention methods, tip etiquette in Spain, and an introduction to the autónomo (self-employed) registration process.

Advanced Fade Masterclass
This four-week intensive is designed for barbers who already hold a chair but want to sharpen the skill that clients judge most harshly: the fade. In Madrid's competitive barbershop market, a clean fade isn't a differentiator — it's the minimum expectation. This programme pushes you past minimum and into the territory where clients actively request you by name.
Each week targets a specific fade family. Week one covers low and mid fades with an emphasis on guideline placement — the millimetre-level decisions that separate a good blend from a visible line. Week two moves to high fades and skin fades, where the margin for error shrinks and the detailer becomes your most important tool. Week three introduces burst fades, temple fades, and disconnected styles. Week four is devoted to textured crops, design work with trimmers, and assessment preparation.
All sessions use live models. Instructors assess every cut individually, noting blending consistency, symmetry, and finishing precision. Students leave with a graded skills card that documents their competency across each fade variation — useful evidence when applying to higher-tier barbershops in Spain.

Prerequisites
This course requires prior barbering experience — either completion of our Foundations programme, equivalent formal training, or at least six months of working in a barbershop. We conduct a brief skills assessment during the application process to ensure every participant can keep pace with the group.
Beard Sculpting & Razor Work
Spain's grooming-lounge segment is growing faster than any other part of the barbering market. Clients in Madrid and across the country are paying premium prices for services that go beyond a simple trim — hot-towel shaves, precise cheek-line architecture, and beard-shape consultations that account for face morphology, jaw structure, and hair growth patterns. This two-week programme gives working barbers the specialist skills to offer these services confidently.
Week one covers straight-razor fundamentals: blade selection (shavette vs. traditional), stropping, the three-pass shave sequence (with-grain, across-grain, against-grain), and hot-towel preparation using proper lather technique. You will practise on balloons before progressing to live models — the classic training method that teaches feather-light pressure control before skin touches steel.
Week two shifts to beard design: identifying the six primary face shapes, choosing beard outlines that enhance jawline definition, blending beard density with clippers and trimmers, and handling common complications like patchy growth zones and ingrown-hair-prone skin. The programme closes with an aftercare consultation module — recommending oils, balms, and routines based on individual hair and skin types.

09:00 — Precision Drill
Each day begins with a focused 20-minute technique drill on practice heads. The exercise targets whichever technique the day's curriculum covers — guard transitions for fade days, scissor angles for taper days. It warms up your hands and calibrates your eye before working on live models.

09:30 — Instructor Demonstration
Your instructor performs a complete service on a live model while the cohort observes from workstation-level angles. They narrate every decision — guard selection, hand position, lever pressure, blending checkpoints — so you understand the reasoning behind each physical movement.

10:00 — Chair Practice (Morning Block)
Three hours of live model work with roving instructor feedback. Each student completes two to three services. The instructor stops you mid-cut when corrections are needed — there is no waiting until the end to discover a mistake that could have been caught early.

14:00 — Theory & Review
After lunch, a 45-minute theory session covers the day's context — hygiene standards for Spanish sanitary inspections, product chemistry, or client communication techniques. Then the afternoon chair block begins: two more hours of practice, this time with timed targets to build speed without sacrificing quality.

17:00 — Debrief & Self-Assessment
The day ends with a group debrief. Each student photographs their best cut of the day, identifies one thing that went well and one thing to improve. The instructor adds written notes to your progress tracker — a document you take home at the end of the programme.
