The Story Behind the Chair
How a simple observation — that too many barbering programmes neglect real chair time — turned into Madrid's most hands-on training academy.
Built on a Gap Nobody Was Filling
RH Sales Hunters started in 2024 after the founding team noticed something intractable about barbering education in Spain: most programmes split their time almost equally between theory and practice, leaving graduates who could recite trichology textbooks but couldn't execute a clean skin fade under time pressure. The gap between classroom competence and barbershop readiness was costing new barbers their first jobs — and costing shop owners weeks of on-the-job remedial training.
The solution was methodical. Eight fully equipped barber stations were built in Madrid's Chamartín district, each mirroring the exact layout of a working barbershop — from the hydraulic chair height to the mirror lighting angle. The curriculum was rewritten around an 80/20 rule: eighty per cent of every course day is spent with clippers in hand, working on live models, receiving real-time corrections from instructors who still hold active chairs in Madrid's top shops. Theory doesn't disappear — it's woven into the practical work, taught between cuts rather than in a separate classroom block.
That philosophy — learn by doing, not by watching — remains the backbone of everything we deliver. Two years in, we have trained students from across Spain, Portugal, and beyond, many of whom now hold chairs in the same shops our instructors work at.
Close the Gap Between Training and Employment
RH Sales Hunters exists to produce barbers who are employable on the day they graduate — not three months later. Every decision we make, from cohort size to curriculum weighting to instructor selection, is measured against one question: will this make our graduates more ready for a real barbershop chair in Spain? If the answer is uncertain, we rethink it. We don't chase accreditation badges or expand into tangential beauty services. We teach barbering. We teach it relentlessly. And we teach it in Madrid, where the demand for skilled barbers continues to grow faster than the talent pipeline can supply.
Our Core Values
Chair Time Over Lecture Time
Muscle memory is built through repetition, not slides. We prioritise practical hours because that's how confident, employable barbers are made. Eighty per cent of every training day is spent behind the station — the other twenty per cent reinforces what your hands just learned.
Honest Feedback, Always
Our instructors will tell you when a fade line is uneven, when your posture is causing fatigue, and when your blade angle needs correcting — in real time, at the chair, without sugarcoating. Growth requires discomfort; we provide the structured kind.
Industry, Not Ivory Tower
Every instructor at RH Sales Hunters still works an active chair in Spain. The techniques we teach are the ones being requested by clients walking into Madrid barbershops today — not trends from half a decade ago. Our supplier contacts, hiring networks, and salon-management insights are current, not theoretical.
The Team Behind the Training
Our instructors and staff bring diverse backgrounds in barbering, salon management, and education — united by a shared belief that practical skill trumps theoretical knowledge.
Antonio L.
Academy DirectorAn invited specialist with 18 years of experience across barbershops in Madrid, Seville, and Lisbon. Antonio oversees curriculum design and quality assurance for every course cohort. Known among graduates for his painstaking attention to taper-line symmetry — he once spent 40 minutes on a single fade demonstration to illustrate blade-angle precision. Before founding the academy, he managed a four-chair shop in the Salamanca district and trained junior barbers through informal apprenticeships, an experience that revealed the need for structured, hands-on education.
Marina R.
Lead Instructor — FoundationsA specialist in beginner pedagogy with 12 years in the barbering and hairdressing sectors across Spain. Marina developed the Foundations Course curriculum and is responsible for guiding complete newcomers from zero to their first confident full haircut. Her background in vocational education (she holds a certificate in adult learning methodologies) makes her particularly effective at breaking complex motor skills into repeatable micro-steps. Students consistently cite her structured warm-up drills as the technique that accelerates their early progress.
Daniel K.
Senior Instructor — Advanced TechniquesAn expert in advanced fade work and design barbering with 15 years of professional experience, including stints at high-end grooming lounges in Madrid and Barcelona. Daniel leads the Advanced Fade Masterclass and the Beard Sculpting programme. He brings a granular understanding of clipper mechanics — lever positions, blade gaps, guard tolerances — that transforms working barbers' consistency in as few as three sessions. Outside the academy, he still holds a regular chair two days a week, keeping his finger on what Madrid clients are requesting right now.
Sofia P.
Student CoordinatorThe specialist responsible for admissions, scheduling, and student welfare at the academy. Sofia manages every touchpoint from initial enquiry through to certificate issuance. With seven years of experience in educational administration across vocational schools in Madrid, she ensures cohort logistics run without friction — model scheduling, equipment maintenance, assessment calendars, and post-graduation follow-ups. If you've emailed the academy, chances are Sofia replied within the hour.
Guest Specialists
Throughout the year, we invite guest specialists from across Spain and Europe to deliver masterclass sessions on niche topics — textured crops, Afro hair techniques, razor art, and barbershop business strategy. These invited experts bring perspectives and skill sets that complement our core instructors, exposing students to the full breadth of the modern barbering profession. Guest session schedules are shared with enrolled students at the start of each cohort.
Eight Stations. One Standard.
Our training centre occupies a purpose-fitted ground-floor unit on Calle Corazón de María in Madrid's Chamartín district. The space was designed from scratch to replicate a professional barbershop — not a school that happens to have chairs in it. Each of the eight stations includes a hydraulic chair, a full-length mirror with adjustable salon lighting, a tool trolley stocked with Wahl and Andis clippers, Kasho shears, and a selection of straight razors. The floor layout follows the flow of a real four-chair shop, so students learn spatial awareness and station etiquette alongside cutting technique.
Adjacent to the cutting floor, a separate product area lets students study styling products, aftercare lines, and the commercial side of recommending retail to clients — a revenue stream many new barbers overlook. The facility also includes a small lounge for breaks, changing area with lockers, and a dedicated model waiting zone to keep session flow uninterrupted.

01
Early 2024 — The Idea Takes Shape
After years of watching new barbers struggle to bridge the gap between school-taught theory and real salon demands, the founding team secured a ground-floor commercial unit in Madrid's Chamartín district and began designing a curriculum built around the 80/20 practical-to-theory ratio.

02
Mid 2024 — Doors Open
The training centre opened with eight fully equipped stations, three course programmes, and a first cohort capped at six students. Word of mouth among Madrid's barbershop community filled the second and third cohorts before the first had graduated.

03
Late 2024 — First Graduates Placed
Graduates from the inaugural Foundations Course began securing junior barber positions at shops across Madrid and surrounding cities. The portfolio-development module — added at the last minute — proved decisive in interviews.

2025–2026 — Expanding Reach
Demand from outside Madrid — students travelling from Barcelona, Seville, Lisbon, and beyond — prompted the introduction of intensive format options and bilingual delivery. Guest specialist sessions were formalised into the academic calendar, and the internal student satisfaction score reached 97 per cent.
